Comeuppance and reckoning finally arrives for arrogant and blinkered Marxists, says Sutanu Guru
For them, Mecca and Medina happen to be Moscow and Beijing. The Bible and the Quran have morphed into Das Kapital and ideology has become as blind as a bat and as twisted as the horns of an antelope.. In 1939, when Hitler invaded Poland and triggered the Second World War, the Comrades refused to condemn the Nazis because Hitler and Stalin (The then Godfather, Pied Piper, Mentor and Ring Master of the comrades) had signed a secret pact. In those terrible days of genuine genocide, Indian comrades were busier attacking Imperial Britain rather than condemning Hitler and Fascism. By the time the Congress launched the Quit India movement in 1942, the comrades finished imitating the chameleon because Hitler had invaded Russia and Britain and Soviet Union had become ‘allies’. Ousting ‘Imperialism’ slithered down the pole of priorities. You might say all that is history and not really relevant to India. But wait. Approach a die hard comrade even today and ask him or her to unflinchingly condemn China for invading and militarily humiliating India in 1962. The more polite ones will flinch while the staunch ones will unleash a tirade of double speak about class war and ‘neo-imperialistic’ media. And many of you might have forgotten the fact that the Communist Party of India (that used to report to Moscow unlike the Communist Party of India (Marxist) that looks towards Beijing for inspiration) actually supported the Emergency that was imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975!
It is the innately tolerant ethos of Indian civilization that the comrades still have a role to play despite such crimes against the nation. After all, India has always been known to accept and absorb any ideology, dogma, religion or philosophy that comes to its shores. But then, India also has the unique ability to absorb these ‘external’ influences and make them uniquely Indian. Prakash Karat and his fellow comrades simply forgot this timeless truth about India. And India has made them pay a price.
